Celebrating National Physicians Day on May 1st

May 1, 2021, has been declared as National Physicians Celebration Day, in honor of the dedication, and the thoughtful compassionate health care provided by physicians everywhere in this great country. The Canadian Medical Association chose this date because it is the birthday of Dr. Emily Stowe (Canada’s first female to practice medicine and a founding member of the women’s rights movement).

Physicians work collaboratively to strengthen the health care system by utilizing their unique skills as caregivers, teachers, and advocates of quality improvement. They are scientist-researchers and innovators that continuously strive to provide excellence in the care of their patients.

The SMH + JPOCSC Medical Staff Association joins the CMA in celebrating the contributions of over 600 physicians that work hard every day to serve our patients and their families. Join us in a salute to these Champions of Health Care, as they help our community to achieve the goals of: Better Health, Best in Health Care.
